Cesc to Barcelona finally

Cesc is now officially of Barcelona
Cesc Fabregas (24-year-old) will join up with the European champions' squad in time for Sunday's Spanish Super Cup clash against Real Madrid.

Standard Sport understands that Fabregas will undergo a medical in the next 48 hours after the two clubs agreed a structured deal of £29.8m (34m euros) up front with a further £5.3m (6m euros) in add-ons.

The add-ons will be triggered if Fabregas plays at least 60 per cent of Barcelona's matches and the club win at least three major trophies - La Liga or the Champions League - in the next three seasons.

Fabregas, who will sign a five-year contract, trained with Arsenal at London Colney this morning before the rest of his former team-mates travelled up to Newcastle for tomorrow's opening League fixture without him.

It is thought that Fabregas will be presented to the world's media at a press conference in Barcelona on Monday.

Barça keeper Victor Valdes was delighted that the former trainee had rejoined the club he left as a 16-year-old in 2003.

He said: "I think that today is a great day for Barcelona. I think that Barcelona sign a great player, from here, who will adapt easily to the system of play of the team, with a an engaging quality and of an international level. Cesc is one of the best central midfielders in the world and it is an honour to have him in the team."
